The projects combine microhistory, mobility studies and transnational history, foregrounding actors and spaces often peripheral in nation-centred narratives.
The project follows global migrations of German-speaking people from Ukraine, especially Volhynia, between 1860 and 1950 and examines how they negotiated racialised borders and settlement regimes.
